What is The Bach Flower System?

The Bach Flower System is a gentle, natural method that supports emotional well-being and helps restore a sense of inner balance. Developed in the 1930s by British physician and visionary Dr. Edward Bach, this approach is rooted in the belief that our emotions deeply influence our overall sense of harmony and peace.
The system is made up of 38 flower essences (also called remedies), each connected to a specific emotional state—ranging from worry and indecision to sadness, loneliness, or overwhelm. With the exception of Rock Water, which comes from a natural spring, all remedies are derived from wildflowers and plants.
Each essence works subtly to support a more balanced and calm state of mind, allowing us to better navigate the ups and downs of everyday life.
How the Bach Flower Remedies Work
Dr. Bach believed that when our emotions are in harmony, we’re more in tune with ourselves and better able to meet life’s challenges. His work was based on the idea that emotional balance is key to overall well-being—not just mentally, but in how we feel in our daily lives.
In his book The Twelve Healers and Other Remedies, he wrote:
“The mind being the most delicate and sensitive part of the body, shows the onset and course of disease much more definitely than the body, so that the outlook of mind is chosen as the guide as to which remedy or remedies are necessary.”
He organized the 38 flower remedies into seven emotional groups that help guide individuals toward the support they need:
